ARTIST RESIDENCY
THE HVITAHUS
Hvítahús is a residency program for artists and an art gallery. It's located just next to the Snæfellsnesþjóðgarður National Park. The program offers artists and other creatives to reside at our desired space to get creative in a different environment. We provide you with a home away from home, without the distractions of everyday life. The restored Hvítahús includes a fully equipped residency floor and a 30m² double-height studio/ exhibition hall and gallery facilities.

Artist from all over the world have enjoyed the Hvitahus Residency.
The tranquillity and the unspoiled nature surrounded by the astonishing landscapes and the glacier in the backyard makes it a perfect place for artists to create their art, whether you are a Painter, Graphic Artists, Musician, a Writer or any other creative.

Our stay was a month long. The studio was a lovely place to work with a view of the ever changing light on the mountains. Weather also always changing, keeping you on your toes. The house feels very isolated, which we loved, but really a very 4 min drive or walk into town. A lot of scenic places to explore nearby and a waterfall every turn on the road. Highly recommend Hvitahus- necessities for your stay are at the house and it's very cozy!

It was a wonderful, creative, fruitful month in the cosy Hvitahus and its marvelous surroundings. I felt there so much at home, maybe that was the reason my creative work went there very well.

We had a very nice and peaceful time at the beautiful Hvitahuus. The stay was filled with concentrated artistic creation, inspiration and reflection. The wonderful walks in the surrounding area also contributed to making the stay one of the most beautiful.
Elfa and Haldor are wonderful and helpful hosts.
We would very much look forward to seeing them again and coming back to the house, and who knows: maybe it will happen!

Wonderful. An experience of a lifetime. Huge studio space with great views of the snow-covered volcanic landscapes and wild sea. The house is very cosy, with logs provided for the wood-burning stove. The kitchen is well equipped, and the interior design and furnishings excellent. I experienced a stunningly beautiful remote setting in a National Park. Hosts were extremely helpful and provided transportation to and from Reykjavik.

The sea is only a stone throw away, with perfect views of the horizon from the residential space on the upper floor. Great for watching sunsets.
